HARDING CAPTURES 100th HS CAREER WIN!
January 28, 2012 - Oliver Ames Senior Captain Matt Harding went undefeated in the Hockomock Tournament in North Attleboro Saturday, and as he prepared for the title match to win the tournament championship in his weight class, he knew it wasn't just another match. Harding, his Family, Friends and the entire OA team knew exactly what it meant. It would represent his 100th career victory as a high school wrestler for Oliver Ames, the first wrestler in OA team history to accomplish that feat.
Achieving the 100 win mark is a milestone that very few high school wrestlers ever achieve. The 100 win club is limited to wrestlers with very special talent and determination and Harding has exactly those qualities. With this milestone achieved and behind him, Harding and his teammates now prepare for the post-season run, beginning with sectionals next Saturday, at Whitman-Hanson Regional High School.
Three OA Wrestlers made it to the finals at Saturday's Hockomock Tournament. Tim Gover (106) and Steve Treannie (220) also fought for the championship in their weight class, each capturing second place. Also placing were OA wrestlers Josh Briggs (285) in 3rd and Will Barnard (195) in 4th for their weight class. "This is our best finish in the Hock Tournament", said Coach Adam Pomella, "our previous best was two wrestlers in the championship, we did well today."
